Hemmert Family Portraits :: Tooele Salt Lake City Utah Photographer

This is Megan, my oldest friend in the world. Who, by the way, is stunningly beautiful! We were best friends, complete with best friend necklaces and matching outfits, until she moved away before 3rd grade. We kept in contact through letters and a visit here and there until the internet took over the world. Now we keep in contact through facebook. This session was actually somewhat of a disaster, though you can’t tell from the photos. I was SUPER SICK! I thought I was car sick from driving through Cottonwood Canyon to get to Alta Ski area. But I was sick the entire night after and well into the next day. I am pretty sure I had mild food poisoning. I ate school lunch with my kids and it was sort of sketchy looking. The good news is, I held myself together until after the session, where I puked my guts out on the side of the road. The sad part of this happy reunion with my friend, was that her mind was on her father who is in the hospital with cancer. She was leaving town the next day after spending a few weeks with her dad and I could see the weight on her shoulders. Even with her sad heart, she still looked amazing!

But it was such a joy to get to know her husband and daughter. And to see my friend grown up. I remember Megan’s mom so well, probably because I spent as much time at her house as I did my own. Watching Megan being a mother, I kept getting flashes of her mom. And watching Megan’s daughter was like seeing my old childhood best friend. It was trippy and really, really beautiful! And even though my mind was concentrating on not throwing up, we still managed to get some really beautiful photos. I think I was just on auto-pilot. The amazing Utah mountains and photogenic family made it easy for me to fake my way through these.

Next time we see each other, NutMeg, I hope its under better circumstances! And THANK YOU for asking me to take these! I’m so glad I got to see you and visit a little bit.
